At 46 years old, Girlaine found herself at a crossroads.
She was divorced and living alone in Brazil with a successful career. On the outside, life appeared stable, but in her heart, she sensed that God was calling her to something more.
When the Lord closed the door to her job in 2021, what felt like a devastating setback became the beginning of a remarkable journey of faith.
Shortly after losing her job, a video about Christ For The Nations unexpectedly appeared on her phone. She had never searched for CFNI and had never imagined moving to Texas. Her original plan was simply to spend a year in the United States improving her English. However, as she prayed, the Lord made it clear that He was leading her to Dallas. Still, she had many questions.
As a single woman, divorced and in her mid-40s, she wondered if she was too old to start over. She did not know how she would pay for tuition, housing, or even daily expenses. Yet step by step, she chose to trust God.
Before relocating, Girlaine traveled to Israel. While being baptized in the Jordan River, the Lord gave her a vivid vision of two magnificent horses standing at the water’s edge. Soon afterward, strangers began prophesying over her life, declaring that God was calling her to the nations. At the time, she did not fully understand what the vision meant.
Months later, after arriving in Texas, she saw a painting of two horses in a store. At that moment, the Holy Spirit brought her back to the Jordan River. God gently confirmed what He had shown her in Israel: “I was leading you to Texas all along.”
Girlaine arrived at CFNI on January 1st, 2023, with limited English, no local support system, and only enough savings to cover her first semester. Her first year was not easy. She often walked across campus in tears, praying, “Lord, did You bring me here just to cry?” But even in those difficult moments, God was at work.
He surrounded her with caring people, opened doors for scholarships, and provided exactly what she needed; tuition, food, housing, transportation, and encouragement. What seemed impossible became a testimony of God’s faithfulness.
Today, Girlaine faithfully serves in CFNI’s Hospitality Department, coordinating events, welcoming guests, and helping others feel at home. She also studied Global Missions and Pastoral Studies, and went on ministry trips to the Amazon and Germany. Looking back, she says with confidence, “CFNI changed my life!”
Her story is a powerful reminder that God’s calling has no age limit. Divorce does not disqualify you. Age does not disqualify you. Limited resources do not disqualify you.
